Presenter:  Hilary Anne Hager, Director, National Volunteer Center, The Humane Society of the United States

Description:  Volunteers usually make up the vast majority of a rescue group’s workforce.   In this webinar, you will learn about the “crisis chaos spiral” caused by a lack of volunteer program structure, and will get great advice on how to build a strong volunteer management infrastructure, write effective and useful job descriptions, and find and keep the right people for your organization.

This is the third in a four-part webinar series.

About the Presenter:  Hilary Anne Hager, who has served since 2011 as the director of the National Volunteer Center at The HSUS.  She has spent the last thirteen years managing volunteers in animal welfare environments.  In addition to managing volunteers in shelters, Hilary has been a volunteer herself in the Peace Corps in Mongolia and a wildlife rehabilitation center in Washington State.  She has been a board member for a chimpanzee sanctuary and a “friends of” non-profit group supporting the work of a municipally-operated shelter.  She currently serves as Vice-president of the Washington State Federation of Animal Care and Control Agencies.  Hilary completed her undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership from Seattle University.
