Important Changes to Pet List Links

by Jim Chesters

We recently had to make a change to the way search filters work which has temporarily disabled some pet list links.

A broken pet list link containing “&sort=identifier”

If your pet list link currently contains the word “sort”, you need to remove the the “&sort=identifier” at the end of your URL in order to get the link to work properly.

Change your pet list link to follow this example:

https://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?shelter_id=YOURSHELTERID

Replace YOURSHELTERID with your actual shelter ID, in all CAPS.

Example: https://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?shelterid=NJ56

If you are not sure if this applies to you, or to find out where to change these links, visit your Petfinder Home Page and any other pages where you link to your Petfinder Pet List.  To change your Petfinder Home Page, log in to the Petfinder Admin System and click on the Home Page Manager tab. You can find your pet list links here, usually titled “Our Adoptable Pet List” or “Click here for a list of pets at this shelter.”

This change to the sort function is only temporary, so these links will work again in the near future. In the meantime though it is important to change your links so potential adopters can continue to find your available pets from your homepage.
