Prizes in the Litter at Expo

Last week, the Petfinder team attended Animal Care Expo in Daytona Beach. Animal Care Expo is one of the biggest conferences in the animal welfare industry. Put on by the Humane Society of the United States, the conference draws attendees from all over the world in the fields of animal care, control, rescue, and emergency services. Great speakers, workshops, networking opportunities and a massive exhibitor …

    Homeless Dogs Takeover IKEA Showrooms

A group in Singapore called Home for Hope came up with a clever way to find new adopters: put the homeless dogs in IKEA stores. Well, almost. What Home for Hope did was print up life-sized cutouts of dogs that were available for adoption from the shelters they work with. Then in collaboration with IKEA, they placed the cutouts in IKEA store showrooms …

Follow Friday: Dogs of New York

Dogs of New York is street-style photography, gone to the dogs.  Photographer and dog-lover Kim Wolf is capturing the lives of dogs and dog people around New York City.  If Kim’s name sounds familiar, it might be because she presented webinars on Petfinder Pro last year, which you can find in our webinar archive.  The candid Dogs of New York photos show the …

Networking to Save More Lives at Adoption Options

Adoption Options, Petfinder’s free one-day conference series, focusing on behavior, placement, and promotion, are a great way to gain new knowledge about the most up-to-date information in animal welfare from nationally known speakers. Follow Friday: The Sidekick Series

The Sidekick Series brings together short documentary-style films and adopted pets.  The results are videos that are beautiful to watch, in every way!  While it is an extremely hard choice, I think my favorite is Episode 12: Betty Rose & The Cattoo.  Inspired by cats, a Brooklyn tattoo artist is known for her ‘cattoo’ designs! It Won’t Work Here

The ASPCA Pro blog re-published an interesting post called It Still Won’t Work Here. The post was originally written by Dr. Emily Weiss in 2013 and it’s worth a read. She discusses the common excuse that we all make in both professional and personal situations: it won’t work here. Instead of trying something that has been successful or helpful for others, we already …

May The 4th Be With You

Here’s a great adoption promotion that’s pretty close to my heart as a Star Wars fan and a great example of a promotion that you can do when you’re in-between holidays. Animal Care and Control of NYC is putting together a Star Wars themed adoption event on May 4th called, appropriately, May the 4th Be With You. “Our goal with this adoption promotion …
