My “Pre-Owned” Cat |
|
Kittens, kittens everywhere. With so many coming into shelters and rescues this time of year, maintaining creativity to encourage feline adoptions can be as challenging as keeping kitten cages clean. Activate your community near and far to help!
Post photos of not-yet-named kittens to your social channels to crowdsource
new kitten names. Not only does this help
give kittens their first names and give you
something fun to post, but it helps your followers feel closer connected to your organization as they play a role in helping cats find homes.
Consider offering “specials” for cat adoptions. It is hard to resist a sale, and shelters have reported great success when discounting or waiving pet adoption fees. Or, ask adopters to set their own adoption fee.
Try looking outside of animal welfare for fresh ideas. One of my favorite innovative ideas is Michigan Humane Society’s Certified Pre-Owned Cats promotion, inspired by used car sales. When you see an ad that catches your eye, think “how can I use this to help pets?”
Happy adoptions! |
