MANAGING COMPASSION STRESS
Thursday, September 17   10am-4pm
Facilitated by Doug Fakkema
Nationally known speaker and lecturer on compassion stress and compassion fatigue
St. Hubert’s Community Room    575 Woodland Ave, Madison
$10.00 registration includes all materials and lunch

It’s no secret that summer especially, with the increase in the numbers of animals needing our immediate help, takes its toll on animal welfare staff and volunteers.  Compassion stress and fatigue is a pervasive problem in our field and it cannot be avoided by simply “soldiering on.”  While we may be busier than ever, it’s imperative that we all take the time to step back and learn to recognize the signs of stress and how to use the tools available to us in dealing with compassion fatigue.  None of us is immune–untreated, unmanaged compassion stress contributes to “burnout.”  Burnout results in loss of compassion and feelings of fear and dread for the very things that once brought joy.  We’re all in this together–please join us for a day of “caring for the caretakers.”  You won’t be sorry–a small investment in yourself, together with your colleagues in animal welfare, will also benefit the animals who rely on all of us. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.      For questions call Nora Parker at 973-377-7094 Ext. 225
