Not sure where to start? Here are a few ways you can help your pet get (or stay) trim right away:

• Limit your pet’s table food to small amounts of healthy foods and adjust his or her regular meals accordingly.
• Instead of simply doling out treats, ask your pet to do something first (sit, give paw, etc.) and then reward that positive behavior with a small amount of food.
• Hide your cat’s food in different places around the house to encourage her hunting instincts.
• Feed your pet through a feeding toy puzzle rather than a bowl.
