Confirm Your Eligibility

Before you start your application, review our checklist to see which types of organizations are eligible for membership.

Not Eligible

  • Networking or Referral-Only Groups
  • Pet guardians rehoming their own pet
  • Show or Hobby Breeders
  • Any for-profit pet placement
  • Organizations outside of the United States, Canada, or Mexico
  • Organizations without an adoption contract

Eligible

  • Municipal Public Shelters
  • Private Shelters
  • Rescues with pets in their direct care
  • Veterinary Clinics who rehome pets

Complete Vet Form

Download and fill out the Veterinary Verification Form (You’ll need your local veterinarian’s signature) Then email the form toregistration@petfinder.com

Tip: Email the form on the same day you submit your application.

Locate Your Federal Tax ID Number (if Applicable)

If you are a United States 501(c)(3) charity, or Canada or Mexico charity, you will need your EIN (US), Charitable Number (Canada), or Business Number (Mexico) to complete the application.

U.S. organizations, if you’re unsure of your federal 501(c)(3) status, verify that you appear in theU.S. Internal Revenue Service charity search.
